On the first day of school, my students put on a race car driver costume jacket and pose for a photo in front of a racetrack poster/backdrop. If you don't have a backdrop, you can use Print Shop to crop the students' photos and insert a stock image of a racetrack behind them.
The driver posters can be used as a hallway display or placed in VIP pass holders that they can wear on field trips or during other special school events.

Inflatable race cars and a "Start Your Engines" sign are placed in an otherwise empty area above our classroom cupboards.
Racing flags can be hung anywhere in the classroom to make this theme come alive! During our Spring open house, we transformed our classroom into a racing-themed theater to show our class movies to the guests who attended.
While I no longer have a teacher desk in my classroom, when I did this theme years ago, I made my desk look like a race car with a "Team Newingham" license plate.
This bulletin board was created for our SPring Open house using racing-themed tablecloths for the backdrop. Class photos from the school year helped to decorate the scene.
Students learned to crop photos of their heads in Print Shop and add them to race car clipart for this bulletin board scene.
Students introduced our class movies from behind this podium at our spring open house. This decorated table was part of our writing center during the school year.
Students' racing cards hung from the ceiling in our classroom, and their published books were displayed on a racing table at our spring open house.
